Kids' Bike Trade-Up Program

Why Buy a Trek Bike for your Kids?

Trek’s kids’ bikes are built to ride better, last longer, and carry kids safely through every adventure. Trek applies the same design and technology it uses on adult bikes, incorporating the elements into kid-sized frames. Everything is sized appropriately. Saddles, handlebars, and grips are designed to work perfectly with the unique frame geometry designed to accommodate growth spurts. Proper fit is extremely important.

What type of bike should you buy?

Consider the type of riding the child will be doing. Just as with adult bikes, Trek makes children’s bikes for road, mountain, and just for fun riding. You can choose between a hybrid Wahoo, to the off pavement Precaliber to the Roscoe, a mid-fat mountain bike.

Many children start on a balance bike like the Trek Kickster which looks like a regular bike without pedals. Children push with their feet and glide. Starting with a balance bike often eliminates the need for training wheels when the child graduates to a pedal bike.

Kids' Bike Trade Up Program

Thanks to our Kids’ Bike Trade-Up Program, your child can ride a high quality bike that fits well. When you buy a new kid's bike (24' wheel or less) from Phat Tire Bike Shops, you can trade it in when your little cyclist is ready for their next bike. Bring the bike back in good condition, within 3 years of purchase and Phat Tire will credit up to 50% of the original retail price towards the purchase of a larger bike. Continue to trade-in until your child takes home his or her first adult bike.
